GETTING
AND INSTALLING REALPLAYER
If
you have never installed Realplayer before, you may want to
print these instructions before you continue.
Realplayer
is available for download from the RealNetworks site, however
two versions of the player are available. Realplayer Basic is
free and Realplayer Plus is for sale. Realplayer Basic is fine
for viewing all multimedia content on this site. You do not
need to purchase the Plus version.
When
you connect to their site, you will need to look carefully on
the page for the link to Realplayer Basic since most of the
page advertises the Plus version. It is usually in a section
at the top or about half way down the page and will say free
version or basic. Click on that, and you will be
given a form to fill out. You do not need to select the "Spinner"
option nor get notifications from RealNetworks if you don't
want.
You
will then be given a "download option" screen. The
"basic minimum" is fine for viewing content on this
site, and will download faster than selecting the other options.
The
next screen will permit you to select the location closest to
you to download from.
If
you have trouble finding the free version on the RealNetworks
site, or can't navigate your way around the advertisements,
then you can also click here
to get a copy.
Your
browser will then ask you to either run the file or save the
file. Be sure to select save and make note of
the location you are saving to.
Once
the download is complete, run the program you just downloaded.
(Windows users can navigate to the folder you saved it to by
using Windows Explorer or My Computer).
After
Realplayer is installed, we recommend you start it and change
some options. Under the View menu select Preferences.
Click on the Connection tab and make sure the setting
match the kind of connection you have with the internet. If
you don't know your connection speed or method, don't worry,
it will still work.
You
may want to change the settings in the Performance tab.
See the Help section of Realplayer for more details.
